Coach Terry Tippett Honored
Coach Terry Tippett Honored

Coach Terry Tippett was honored by those whom he has influenced and impacted throughout his 48 year career.

After pacing the basketball court for 13 years at ECS and a career spanning 48 years, Coach Terry Tippett will step away from the bench as he retires at the end of this season as head coach of the varsity boys basketball program.

While at ECS, Coach Tippett led his teams to one state championship (2011) and three state finals (2006, 2008, 2013) along with several regional championships. Over the years his teams have won a total of six state titles and were state runner-up four times. Although his career has been at the high school level, his basketball influence spans from middle school to the NBA. The number of student-athletes he has impacted over 48 years is simply quite staggering. He currently has 890 career wins to his credit and under Coach Tippett's training, an estimated 75 players have gone on to play at the collegiate level. Here is a listing of Coach Tippett's many achievements and honors:

The Lord brought Coach Tippett and his wife Nancy to ECS in 2004. The basketball program has been the beneficiary of her strong support and enthusiasm for Eagle boys' basketball and his wisdom and knowledge in the high school basketball arena ever since. It is a great honor to have Coach Tippett bring his stellar career to a close with us. He was honored with a special retirement event on January 18. Former players from Trezevant High School, White Station High School, and ECS gathered to show their deep appreciation to Coach Tippett, and several spoke of the amazing impact he had on their lives. Those from White Station brought him a white rocking chair with their Spartans logo as a reminder of their respect for him. A representative from TSSAA sent a tribute that was presented. Fellow coaches also acknowledged Coach's influence on them and their careers.

Mrs. Tippett was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a megaphone to represent her ongoing support. Coach Tippett was given a set of golf clubs (to help him fill his time after he retires!) and a monetary gift made up of donations from those who loved him so dearly..
