Tyson Lee named ECS Lower School Principal for 2019-2020.
ECS is excited to announce that Tyson Lee will be the ECS Lower School principal, effective 2019-2020 school year.
Tyson is a visionary leader and positive culture-setter who will prioritize excellence in academics and discipleship while making ECS an engaging and memorable place for students to learn and grow. Tyson is precisely the type of leader that ECS needs in the Lower School at this time in our history. He is dynamic and has a heart for shepherding our students, faculty and families. His family will be a tremendous addition to our community.
Tyson, a stand-out student athlete from Columbus, Mississippi, walked on the football team at Mississippi State University and earned a scholarship at the end of the spring 2008 semester. He started as quarterback the final eight games for the Bulldogs in 2008 after getting his first start against LSU. Tyson graduated magna cum laude from Mississippi State in May 2010 with a bachelor's of science degree in education, then earned his master's degree in sports administration in May 2012, also from Mississippi State.
After graduate school, Tyson became a scouting assistant for the St. Louis Rams, evaluating college and NFL players to help build the team roster during the season and prepare for the NFL draft. He later returned to Starkville to serve with Fellowship of Christian Athletes where he cultivated relationships, facilitated weekly meetings and discipled college students. He is currently working as the Development Coordinator for Lightbearers Ministries, which is a non-profit ministry that focuses on discipling students and funding missions. In addition, he has been trained and certified by author and speaker, Jon Gordon, to lead workshops and be a keynote for his book, The Power of Positive Leadership.
Everywhere Tyson has served, he has had a proven track record of visionary leadership, building trust within his team, maximizing others' strengths, and pointing young people to Christ, all while demonstrating the humility referenced in Philippians 2:3-5. His education, experience, natural leadership and spiritual gifts will translate well into our ECS culture.
Tyson and his wife, Christa, currently live in Starkville, Mississippi, with their two sons, Zeke (4), Beck (3) and daughter, Ivy (15 months).
