Both ECS libraries (Lower School and Shelby Farms Campus) make up a vibrant part of the learning experience. With COVID-19, there are different ways that both locations are working to support students and teachers.
Ebook availability and collaborations with Lower School Librarian Tammy Umlauf will enrich reading time at the Lower School. More information about this will be available as the year progresses.
This year, Shelby Farms Librarian Charleen Davis and Assistant Librarian Tracey Simpson are relying on new e-book options and an exciting opportunity for reserving books through the library widget (see below) which allows access to the entire library collection. Print books may be reserved and will be checked out and delivered to classrooms. Under the American Library Association guideline, returning books will be quarantined for seventy-two hours before being reshelved.
A special collection of ebooks is being purchased that may be checked out by clicking the Overdrive button. We will also have access to 1,500 Overdrive ebooks that this carrier has made available to help promote reading during the pandemic. With a public library card, an additional 3,500 Tennessee Reads books will be ready for electronic checkout. Tennessee Reads has assembled middle school and high school collections specially chosen to be age- and content-appropriate.
Please direct questions about the two school collections, how to reserve books, or access ebooks to our library staff.
