John Roelofs is in his 45th year at ECS. Throughout his long career at ECS. he served as a Health and Physical Education teacher and was Chair of the Physical Education department in the Upper School. In addition, he coached varsity cross country, basketball, and track. He also served as Chair of the Middle School Physical Education program where he taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys P.E. and as Middle School Athletic Director. Currently he is Coordinator of Alumni and Community Outreach in the Advancement office.
Mr. Roelofs has been happily married to his wife Bonnie for 41 years. They have four children, Angela, Bradley (class of 2008), Matthew (class of 2011) and Nathan (class of 2012). Angela is married to Lee McCracken, and they have a baby boy. Angela works as a nurse in Marietta, Georgia. Bradley graduated from the University of Tennessee and lives and works in Memphis for an accounting firm. Matthew is serving a two year commitment as a Reformed University Fellowship intern at Mississippi State, and Nathan is a senior at the University of Tennessee majoring in mechanical engineering.
Mr. and Mrs. Roelofs have been active members at First Evangelical Church since 1979. Bonnie helps to lead Bible study on Tuesday at First Evan and John am a non-sitting deacon. They are currently involved in mentoring a newly married couple.
