Service is one of the four main areas of focus in the mission so ECS is intentional in providing opportunities for our students to practice service at every grade level.
- Among other projects in lower school, first graders rake leaves and clean the grounds at the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, while students in fifth grade lead in worship and serve lunch to the homeless at the Memphis Union Mission.
- In middle school, each homeroom identifies a service project to support such as tutoring at Memphis City Schools, Neighborhood Christian Center projects, Habitat for Humanity support, recycling efforts at the school, campus clean ups, making Christmas cards for orphanages and military, treats for fireman in the area, and many others. As a middle school, we send monthly support to Isaac Children’s Home in Korea, support Make-A-Wish and St. Jude, and collect thousands of cans of food yearly for Living Water Community Church at Thanksgiving.
- Upper school offers several service-oriented clubs such as Key Club and Servant Leadership Institute; however, along with its stated goals and purposes, each club sponsors a service project. Also Class Service Days are organized by SLI.
