Middle School Collects 123 Boxes for OCC
Middle School Collects 123 Boxes for OCC

Operation Christmas Child gift boxes are sent to children around the globe.

The middle school collected 123 boxes for the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child ministry! This total more than doubled last year's number. According to 7th/8th grade teacher Lynn Garrott who organized the project, OCC was an 8th grade project in the past, but it was expanded to include the

entire middle school this year. The desire of the 6th and 7th graders to participate can be attributed to an earlier visit from Jaki Seward, a former OCC shoebox recipient. According to her story, "Jaki was left at an orphanage in Guatemala by her young mother when she was only a few months old. Sharing a room with 12 other girls, Jaki learned to protect the few possessions

she had. When Jaki was 5 years old, she received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift. Cuddling the stuffed animal she received in her shoebox, Jaki felt special, loved and cared for. She had something to call her own. One year later, she was adopted into a family in the United States. She started packing shoeboxes to share the love of Jesus with other children like herself."

Operation Christmas Child gift boxes are sent to children around the globe. Our Shelby Farms PTF also packed and provided over 40 shoe boxes this year to this worthy ministry.
