Three of our ECS seniors have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship program!
Congratulations to three of our seniors who have been recognized by the prestigious National Merit Scholarship program. Out of over 1,600,000 entrants, 16,000 reach the level of Semi-Finalist and then qualify to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships. Haddasah Betapudi is a Semi-Finalist and will be considered for the National Merit Finalist title and additional scholarships.
Mary Katherine Miller and Emma Johnson both received the National Merit Commendation which indicates that they placed in approximately the top two percent of the entrants.
According to their website, "The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying
Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.6 million entrants each year and by meeting program requirements."
