Biography

In 1972, Carolyn Montfort and her husband, Skip, were lead to ECS. By faith they enrolled their oldest daughter, Mikki, in kindergarten at the East campus; then two years later they enrolled their son, Chris and youngest daughter, Melisse. The relationship with the ECS community spurred Carolyn to serve in this ministry.

In 1980, then President Mickey Bowdon gave her the opportunity to serve in the Business Office, answering the three phone lines, doing insurance, and counting Coke money. Often when the Admissions Office was busy on the phone, Carolyn would talk to callers about ECS and the work that God was doing through the school. For two years Carolyn continued in this “ministry, and she loved being a part of Gods work and the opportunity to talk about something she believed it. After two years Mr. Bowdon asked her to move into the Admissions Office. When she expressed to him that she did not know how to do that job, he told her that she had already been doing it. God allowed her to serve in that role for over 18 years, in addition to duties such as Harvest Festival Chairman, 7th grade cheerleading sponsor, and working with the Alumni. She relished every role because each contributed to her knowledge of the students and their families.

Following her years in Admissions, Carolyn moved to the Advancement office granting her the opportunity for contact with the entire ECS community. She can now see how God was leading her through all these areas as she built, through Him, a love and understanding of the whole mission.

Carolyn began her 37th year at ECS in 2016, participating and serving at special events and occasions. She is not on campus on a daily basis, but the truth remains that every day she loves and lives ECS. One of her great joys is leading the annual Kindergarten Clown Parade with the K4-K5’s as she has for 35 years. Although she was not able to pursue a formal education, God has used her mightily to make a difference in the lives of ECS students and families. Carolyn Montfort considers herself richly blessed.
